For Halloween or any other occasion, surprise your guests by preparing a sweet pumpkin custard! This custard, with its beautiful orange color and incredible velvety texture, is as delicious as it is easy to make.
Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare a sweet pumpkin custard for 4 people:
500 g of pumpkin.
75 g of sifted flour.
100 g of sugar.
2 packets of vanilla sugar.
12 cl of milk.
15 g of melted butter.
2 eggs.
grated organic lemon zest (optional).
The recipe for sweet pumpkin flan is very simple. You can use fresh pumpkin or another squash, like butternut squash.
1- Cut the pumpkin flesh into pieces.
2- Cook the pumpkin pieces in boiling water for 20 to 25 minutes until the pieces are tender.
3- Drain the pumpkin flesh in a strainer.
4- When it has drained well, mash it into a fine puree using a fork.
Once the pumpkin puree is ready, preparing the sweet pumpkin flan is very quick.
1- Pour the pumpkin puree into a large bowl.
2- Melt the butter and let it cool.
3- Gradually incorporate sifted flour, sugar, and vanilla sugar into the pumpkin puree.
4- Add milk to loosen the mixture, then add melted butter and whole eggs. Mix well.
5- If desired, you can flavor this flan with grated lemon zest, but it is optional.
6- Pour this mixture into a buttered flan mold.
1- Preheat your oven to 180°C (th.6).
2- Bake the custard for about 40 to 45 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on the shape and height of the mold used.
Note: The sweet pumpkin custard is cooked when a knife inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
Let the sweet pumpkin flan cool before unmolding it onto a serving dish.
This dessert can be enjoyed warm or cold. I recommend serving it cold with a caramel sauce or a dollop of whipped cream for added indulgence. Happy Halloween!
