To celebrate Easter in a delicious and friendly way, a homemade Easter cake is generally appreciated. We offer you to discover an easy chocolate cake recipe, which is prepared like a chocolate bundt cake with a pink icing and Easter decorations.
Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare an Easter bundt cake style chocolate cake for 4 people:
125g of dark chocolate for baking
75g of unsalted butter
2 eggs
100g of sugar
100g of flour
1 packet of baking powder
10cl of milk
50g of almond powder
2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa
A pinch of salt
Note: If you do not like the bitterness of unsweetened cocoa or have trouble digesting it, you can replace this ingredient with carob powder (a cocoa substitute sold mostly in organic stores).
For decoration
35g of icing sugar
A pinch of red powdered food coloring
Juice of half an orange
Small Easter chocolate eggs
Silver sugar pearls
Edible flowers
To prepare this chocolate Easter bundt cake, start by melting the chocolate with the butter.
1- Break the chocolate into a saucepan.
2- Add the butter cut into small pieces.
3- Melt everything over low heat.
4- Mix constantly using a soft spatula.
5- Remove from heat as soon as the melted chocolate has a smooth and shiny texture.
This Easter chocolate bundt cake recipe has the advantage of being easy to make.
1- Separate the eggs.
2- In a large bowl, whisk the yolks with the sugar until the mixture whitens.
3- Incorporate the sifted flour and baking powder, then add the milk to loosen the dough.
4- Add the almond powder and cocoa.
5- Add the melted chocolate and mix well.
6- Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the preparation.
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Meanwhile, butter and flour a bundt cake or crown mold and pour in the mixture.
Note: the shape of the mold is one of the secrets to the beautiful appearance of this Easter chocolate bundt cake.
1- Bake this Easter chocolate bundt cake for 30 minutes at 180°C.
2- Let it cool slightly before unmolding it.
3- Wait until the cake is completely cold before decorating it.
While the chocolate Easter bundt cake cools, prepare the pink icing.
1- Mix powdered sugar and red food coloring in a small bowl.
Note: For this recipe, I used a natural food coloring made from beet extract.
2- Strain orange juice to remove pulp.
3- Gradually mix orange juice into the powdered sugar until you achieve the perfect texture, both creamy and spreadable.
To frost the Easter bundt cake with pink frosting without dirtying your serving dish, I suggest placing the bundt cake on a sheet of parchment paper.
This trick will also allow you to not waste anything as you can recover the frosting that has dripped onto the paper.
Drizzle the frosting on top of the cake to create drips.
Once the chocolate Easter bundt cake is coated, place it on its serving plate.
Add the decorations on top of the cake before the frosting is completely dry.
You can use all kinds of decorations, small Easter eggs and edible flowers that evoke spring.
For my part, I used borage flowers that grow on my balcony for their beautiful blue color.
Once the powdered sugar frosting has dried, you can cut and serve this Easter chocolate bundt cake. There's no need to accompany it with whipped cream! Personally, I found this chocolate cake so delicious and moist that I think it stands alone, especially at the end of a slightly heavy Easter meal.
