From tonight, Wednesday 13 April, NRJ12 airs a new adventure series in the vein of Benjamin Gates. This series, entitled Blood and Treasure, features an ex-FBI antiquities expert and an art dealer. This pure entertainment promises us adventures between Indiana Jones and James Bond.
A contemporary treasure hunt
The new series that arrives tonight on NRJ12 will undoubtedly remind you of the Indiana Jones saga or the Benjamin Gates and The Mummy movies.
The creators of Blood and Treasure, Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia, do not hide that they were directly inspired by these adventure films.
Quite the contrary, they pay homage to their models and went so far as to make numerous references to these films in the dialogue of this adventure series!
They would even have been inspired by The Da Vinci Code to imagine the adventures of the expert in antiques Danny McNamara and the art dealer Lexi Vaziri.
A duo of shock and charm
In Season 1 of Blood and Treasure, brilliant antiquities expert Danny McNamara finds his daily life turned upside down when he learns that his mentor, Dr. Ana Castillo, has been kidnapped by Karim Farouk, a terrorist treasure thief.
Danny, who is a former FBI agent, is forced to ask for help from his ex-girlfriend Lexi Vaziri, an art dealer, to find Ana.
Ana, who is an Egyptologist, was allegedly kidnapped after discovering the lost tomb of Mark Antony and Cleopatra, one of the most famous couples of antiquity...
Lexi agrees to team up with Danny to find Karim Farouk and get revenge on the terrorist who murdered her father.
A good casting
The hero of Blood and Treasure is played by Matt Barr. Fans of TV shows will probably recognize this actor who played Peyton's evil fake brother in The Scott Brothers.
His sidekick Lexi is played by actress Sofia Pernas previously seen in the series Jane The Virgin and The Brave.
Other actors accustomed to the small screen as Michael James Shaw (The Walking Dead), Katia Winter (seen in Dexter and Sleepy Hollow), James Callis (Battlestar Galactica), and Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bay in The Mummy) complete the cast.
It should also be noted that, in this new series, the distribution of roles between the star Couple is quite unusual: it is the female character Lexi who tends to use brute force to solve the problems that our two heroes will encounter during their mission, necessarily more perilous than expected ...
A well-made entertainment
Fans of the Indiana Jones saga and adventure films will happily fall for this new series, which offers an exciting treasure hunt and grand settings.
Season 1 of Blood and Treasure was actually filmed in several European and Middle Eastern countries to provide a wide variety of scenery.
Some of the filming took place in Rome and Morocco, and crews traveled from Egypt to Canada, Germany, France and Italy.
With these settings and well executed action scenes, this novelty is ideal for entertainment.
Season 1 of Blood and treasure can be seen from Wednesday, April 13 at 9:10 pm on NRJ12. The series has already been renewed for a season 2.
