Fans of the crime series "Murders at..." will soon be able to discover a new standalone TV movie on France 3 featuring a very special actor. In this investigation titled Murders on the Blue Coast, host Jean-Pierre Foucault makes his acting debut and proves to be convincing. Here is what we know about this new fiction.
A first for the famous host
Jean-Pierre Foucault is one of the most familiar faces on French television. He is also one of the French people's favorite personalities for having presented iconic programs such as Sacrée soirée and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, not to mention his historic role as the host of the Miss France election!
Even though he has already made some appearances in fiction, notably in the films Mes amis, Malabar Princess, Boudu, and Mon meilleur ami, it was always in his own role or as a presenter.
Until now, he had never really ventured into acting. The news made quite a stir when he revealed, in October 2023, that he would be making his acting debut in a TV film from the Meurtres à collection! This is the first time Jean-Pierre Foucault will play such a significant role in fiction, with so much screen time.
In the crime drama Meurtres sur la Côte bleue, which will air on France 3 on Saturday, October 12, 2024, you will be able to see the Miss France contest host in his first character role. He plays Marc Valenci, a heritage architect who witnessed the murder of a construction entrepreneur, pushed off a viaduct.
A TV movie filmed in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The TV movie "Murders on the Blue Coast" was filmed starting on October 25, 2023, in a region dear to Jean-Pierre Foucault's heart, in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The radio and television host from Marseille has been a volunteer president of the Olympique de Marseille training center.
In this new crime drama from the "Murders at..." collection, the investigation is led by a duo of cops: Chloé Soldani (Garance Thénault), a young police inspector, and Lino Perrin (Serge Riaboukine), an old-timer who knew her as a child.
Their investigations will bring secrets to the surface, particularly concerning the character played by Jean-Pierre Foucault. Chloé will quickly discover that Marc is her mother's lover and her future stepfather. But more importantly, he knows more than he is willing to admit about the victim...
A record audience in sight
The trailer that France Télévisions unveiled during the Olympic Games is quite enticing and suggests good ratings for this new TV movie.
With the participation of Jean-Pierre Foucault, in addition to the usual success of the "Meurtres à" collection on France 3, the crime drama "Meurtres sur la Côte bleue" could break audience records.
To date, the collection's audience record is held by "Meurtres en Corrèze," which aired in May 2020. This TV movie starring Carole Bianic, Arié Elmaleh, and Joyce Jonathan gathered 6.85 million viewers.
If you are curious to discover the duo formed by the beautiful Garance Thénault and one of the French people's favorite hosts, tune in to France 3 on Saturday, October 12 at 9:05 PM.
