Since 2021, the Franco-British series Death in Paradise has been providing viewers with a special episode for the holiday season. Fans are set to tune in on Wednesday, December 27th on France 2 for a tropical Christmas coupled with a mystery to solve.
Beautiful surprises for the holidays.
Since 2021, the "Christmas Special" episode has become a tradition for fans of the series "Death in Paradise". In addition to featuring a case that takes place during the holiday season, the plots of these special episodes hold wonderful surprises for viewers.
For its first holiday special edition, the series brought back the character of Dwayne Myers, played by Danny John-Jules. Last year, the past of Commander Selwyn Patterson took center stage, as well as the encounter between Inspector Neville Parker and the toxic Sophie.
This year again, the end-of-year holiday special episode promises to combine a mysterious case with twists in the personal lives of the protagonists...
A small family murder.
With its special Christmas episode, the Franco-British series "Death in Paradise" follows in the footsteps of Christmas crime stories. This British tradition involves setting criminal cases during the holiday season, which is conducive to family gatherings and settling scores.
In the ever-paradisiacal setting of the fictional island of Saint Marie, in the heart of the Caribbean, Inspector Neville Parker (Ralf Little) and his colleagues will have to wait before enjoying their Christmas Eve dinner as a new case awaits them.
They investigate the murder of Gerry Stableforth, the CEO of a family business. The man was found dying in a ravine at the bottom of his property's garden by his son, his niece, and Debbie, an employee of his company. Before taking his last breath, the victim had just enough time to utter a few mysterious words.
The mystery deepens for the Saint Marie police when Neville and his team find that Debbie has vanished.
A distinguished guest.
Regarding personal stories, fans of Death in Paradise are in for a treat as a new character will join the island for the holiday season. Melanie Parker, the outgoing mother of Neville, will arrive in Saint-Marie to celebrate Christmas in the sun and add her own touch to this episode.
Not only will she try to offer good advice to her son about his love life, but she will also encourage Naomi to let loose more outside of work.
The encounter between Melanie Parker, played by Doon Mackichan, and Catherine Bordey (portrayed by Elizabeth Bourgine) is set to spark a wonderful friendship. With a carnival to organize and the commander's evening event, the two women have a busy schedule for the festivities...
There's no doubt that fans will be thrilled to see Commander Patterson in festive mode and a particularly touching Neville Parker in this special Christmas episode. If you enjoy this detective series and its merry band of characters, don't miss this Caribbean Christmas on Wednesday, December 27 at 9:10 pm on France 2!
A spin-off in England.
Inspector Humphrey Goodman, who served in Saint Marie from season 3 to season 6, is back in action in a spin-off of Death in Paradise. This derivative series set in England is titled Beyond Paradise.
In this series currently airing in Britain, the setting has changed but not the quirky and clumsy character played by Kris Marshall. All that remains is to hope that France 2 will purchase the broadcasting rights... It would be another nice treat for the fans!
