Starting this fall, the France Télévisions group will broadcast a number of new, original dramas. Among these new releases, the series "L'éclipse" promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with a uniquely atmospheric crime thriller. Here are 5 good reasons to watch the new police series on France 2.
1- It's one of the event series of the season.
As the official broadcaster of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the France Télévisions group dedicated a large portion of its channels to sporting events this summer.
However, the group also announced, via trailers, the arrival of several new dramas such as Nautilus on France 2, Tom and Lola on France 3, and L'éclipse...
This latest addition, to be discovered on France 2 starting Wednesday, September 4, is a police series starring Claire Keim and Anne Charrier.
2- The story is very promising.
In addition to its beautiful duo of actresses, the series The Eclipse on France 2 presents a highly promising synopsis. The story begins on the high plateau of Aubrac during a solar eclipse.
As everyone is getting ready to enjoy this spectacle, Luca, a 17-year-old teenager, accidentally shoots his girlfriend Nour with his mother’s service weapon, gendarme Manue.
Luca goes to seek help with Angèle, another young girl who came to admire the eclipse. But upon their return, they discover that Nour has disappeared, giving the case a whole new twist. Manue and her colleague Johanna, who are the mothers of the teenagers involved in this drama, lead the investigation.
3- The series boasts a stellar cast.
This series, composed of 6 episodes of 52 minutes, was directed by Franck Brett. The eclipse also boasts a stellar cast, featuring faces well-known to television viewers.
Fans of TV series will be delighted to see Claire Keim in the role of Johanna, Anne Charrier as Manue, as well as Hubert Delattre, Patrick Rocca, Armelle Deutsch, and Thomas Jouannet in this new fiction.
4- This crime novel is set in a rural environment.
One of the distinctive features of the series "L'éclipse" on France 2 lies in its unusual setting for a crime drama: the high plateau of Aubrac, a harsh region swept by winds.
It is rare for crime series to take place outside cities, in the rural expanses of France. This choice made by the authors gives this fiction its uniqueness, showcasing the agricultural world from an unprecedented angle.
Through the crime genre, this fiction highlights the diversity of the farming world. It addresses the issue of rurality and, more broadly, the themes of heritage, transmission, and lineage.
5- The atmosphere of this thriller promises to be unusual.
In the series The Eclipse, the drama affecting several families has the effect of a tsunami on an entire rural community.
Luca's accidental shooting of his girlfriend Nour has serious consequences, not just for the teenager... Manue and Johanna's investigation will bring to light family secrets, rivalries, and unspoken truths in a farming world where locals and newcomers try to coexist, while younger generations search for their place.
With their harsh climate, the volcanic and granitic landscapes of Aubrac provide a unique setting for this multi-layered thriller, filmed in the Occitanie region between the high plateau of Aubrac and Montpellier.
If you are eager to immerse yourself in this particular atmosphere, note that the first episodes will be broadcast on France 2 on Wednesday, September 4 at 9:10 PM. You can also watch them from August 28, 2024, to February 28, 2025, on the france.tv platform.
