Good news for all the fans of this game that marked the late 1990s! The Bigdil, presented by Vincent Lagaf’, will return to the air next year. Here’s what we already know about the big comeback of this program in 5 questions.
Whether you are a fan of game shows or nostalgic for the 2000s, you surely haven't forgotten Le Bigdil, the grand spectacle game show broadcast every evening in access prime time on TF1.
This cult program had its heyday on TF1 between 1998 and 2004. Against all odds, it is set to return to the airwaves more than 20 years after its end on TF1.
Viewers should not be too confused by the new version of Bigdil as this game will still be hosted by Vincent Lagaf’.
The return of this program on air is a total surprise. No one expected it, especially since the host had publicly stated in March 2023 that he had given up on this project.
At the time, he said: "I don't think it will ever come back on air. If it's to make a sub-Bigdil, I'm not interested."
The Bigdil will therefore return to television starting in 2025, but beware: this return will not be on the same channel or at the same time! Get ready for some small changes as this game show will now be broadcast on RMC Story.
This TNT channel has also announced that it will relaunch this entertainment show in prime time. They justified this new schedule by stating that the 64-year-old host no longer wishes to record daily shows.
Regarding the actual game mechanics, Le Bigdil will remain the same! For all the viewers whose memories are a bit hazy, let's recall that this game consists of various challenges and that the contestants can put their winnings back in play.
Vincent Lagaf' will no longer be accompanied by the Gafettes, the young women who assisted him on set. However, Bill, the iconic blue alien from the show, will still be present and will continue to be portrayed by the same actor.
Since the beginning of the program, it has been actor Gilles Vautier who is behind the character of Bill. Vincent Lagaf' even stated that without this actor, with whom he was very close, he would not have agreed to relaunch the game.
Nostalgia is profitable on television as Le Bigdil is not the only old game show making a comeback. Since March 2024, M6 has revived The Price is Right, now hosted by Éric Antoine and aired at 5:30 PM on weekdays. The network also plans to resurrect The Weakest Link, no longer with Laurence Boccolini at the helm but with actor Vincent Dedienne!
Programs from past decades are enjoying renewed popularity, and various channels have taken note. RMC Story has seen firsthand how much viewers love the game show hosted by Vincent Lagaf' and Bill!
The special evening dedicated to Le Bigdil in December 2023, celebrating the show's 25th anniversary, attracted nearly 400,000 viewers. This marked a record audience for RMC Story between 9 PM and 10 PM in the 25-49 age group.
If the original fans tune in, the game could find the same success in prime time. The host has promised that humor and entertainment will still be part of the show. However, viewers will have to wait until next year to see Vincent Lagaf’ and his famous blue sidekick again.
