For some time now, online florists have been offering bouquets made with famous hazelnut chocolate rocks. But of course, it is also possible and less expensive to make this chocolate bouquet oneself. This pretty gourmet bouquet is a perfect gift for various occasions such as Valentine's Day, Christmas or Easter. We will explain how to make a Ferrero Rocher bouquet in a small tutorial with pictures.
Equipment
To make a Ferrero Rocher bouquet, you will need:
• a box of Ferrero Rocher
• wooden skewers
• crepe paper in different colors
• adhesive tape
• an elastic band or string
• a colored sheet of paper (gift wrap or kraft paper)
• a decorative ribbon
Note: for this Easter creative project, I used only recycled materials, except for the chocolates of course! I used scraps of green, white, and pink crepe paper, leftover green gift wrap, and a decorative ribbon also reused from a gift.
If you don't have crepe paper, you can also use solid-colored paper napkins. I tried it on some flowers (the fuchsia ones) and it works just as well even if the paper texture is not exactly the same.
Manufacturing of rods
The first step to making a Ferrero Rocher bouquet is to skewer the hazelnut chocolate balls onto wooden skewers.
For this step, it is unnecessary to remove the brown paper collar at the base of the chocolate. The wooden skewer should also be centered so that the golden center of the flowers is properly positioned.
At first, I tried to handle the process delicately, but I realized it was better to firmly skewer the chocolate ball so that it stays securely on the skewer.
Making paper flowers.
The next step to make a Ferrero Rocher bouquet is making the crepe paper flower corollas.
Cut strips of crepe paper that are at least 20 cm long and 4 cm wide. The paper strips should be slightly wider than the chocolates and long enough to be wrapped around several times.
The wrapping is the most delicate step because you have to:
• wrap the paper neither too tight nor too loose
• orient the paper diagonally relative to the heart of the flower to form a corolla and not a straight roll, standing upright around the golden rock
• get help from another person to attach the paper corolla to the wooden pick using adhesive tape.
To hold the paper corolla onto the pick, wrap a piece of tape around the base of each chocolate for 5 to 6 cm and tighten it well.
Assembling the bouquet.
Provide a vase or tall glass in which you can reserve your chocolate flowers as you make them.
For this Easter DIY, I wanted to respect the tradition that flower bouquets should always have an odd number of stems. My Ferrero Rocher bouquet has only 9 flowers, but it is large enough to make an Easter table decoration or a small gift...
Adapt the number of flowers according to your own project. Once they are ready, all you have to do is assemble the bouquet by tying the wooden skewers with the twine or small elastic band.
Bouquet decoration
To make your Ferrero Rocher bouquet look like a real flower bouquet, I suggest wrapping it in a paper cone and decorating it with a pretty ribbon around the stems.
For this step, I used leftover wrapping paper and a large ribbon made of recycled material. I also filled any gaps in the bouquet with small pieces of green crepe paper.
As a final touch, I embellished my chocolate bouquet with some beads (another decoration I repurposed from baptismal dragees).
Note: feel free to adapt the flower colors and decorations based on the gift or table decoration you want to create.
For Easter, I highlighted spring colors such as white, light pink, and light green. But you can also make red flowers for Valentine's Day or white and red flowers for Christmas, for example. Be creative and above all, have fun!
