Every spring, the small medieval village of Saint-Jean-de-Côle in Dordogne comes alive during the Floralies. For one weekend, the town is adorned with thousands of flowers and offers a horticultural exhibition that attracts several thousand visitors.
A profusion of flowers.
Small village of 365 inhabitants, Saint-Jean-de-Côle is one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France!
Since 1982, this town in Dordogne has been organizing Floralies to promote and embellish its medieval heritage.
For the occasion, the church and the castle are beautifully decorated and the streets of the village are adorned with flowers offering a real profusion of colors and scents.
In addition, about sixty exhibitors come to offer flowers, plants, shrubs and objects related to gardening for the pleasure of visitors who have a garden or a simple balcony.
Of course, this annual event is an excellent excuse to (re)discover the historical and architectural heritage of the village:
=> the castle of Marthonie (15th and 17th centuries)
=> the Romanesque church from the 12th century
=> the old bridge from the 15th century in donkey back that spans the Côle
=> the priory built at the end of the 11th century
=> the half-timbered houses
Edition 2023 translates to "2023 Edition" in English.
The Floralies of Saint-Jean-de-Côle will take place on May 13th and 14th, 2023 on the theme "The poetry of flowers".
This year, the outdoor exhibition-sale will offer:
=> Plantations: horticulturists, nurseries, botanical and perennial plants, aromatic plants, rose growers, water plants...
=> Art crafts: pottery, porcelain paintings, glass engravings, jewelry, basketry, floristry, soap making...
=> Products from small producers: honey, cheese, wine, strawberries...
=> Garden equipment (garden machinery and various articles)
=> Natural and organic products...
There will be entertainment with Eric Pomarel, a sound animator.
There will also be a bar and catering facilities on site.
Practical information.
The 40th Floralies of Saint-Jean-de-Côle will take place on May 13th and 14th, 2023.
