This market, which has existed for over fifteen years, is held in the enchanting setting of Square René Viviani. This green oasis houses the oldest tree in the capital: a false acacia planted in 1601 by Jean Robin himself, the herbalist of King Henry IV who gave his name to the botanical genus Robinia.
But above all, this square adjacent to the Church of Saint-Julien le Pauvre offers an unobstructed view of Notre-Dame de Paris. That is why it was chosen to host the Christmas market named after the cathedral.
The Notre-Dame de Paris Christmas market is the perfect place to find Christmas gifts, especially if you want to give your loved ones local products. The exhibitors indeed highlight French craftsmanship and the gastronomy of our regions on their stalls.
Their products are not ordinary items but handmade creations, such as candles, silk scarves, fashion or high-end jewelry, Christmas ornaments, and wooden toys... To celebrate the much-anticipated reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris more than five years after the fire that ravaged the cathedral's framework, the French artists and artisans exhibiting at this market will present unique objects to the public.
Some of them have imagined specific creations directly inspired by the cathedral and its Gothic architecture. A jeweler has created a pendant in silver, vermeil, and natural stone representing the Stryge, the most famous gargoyle of Notre-Dame! A sculptor has recreated bas-reliefs inspired by the cathedral's rose windows and sculptures.
Thanks to the Notre-Dame de Paris Christmas Market, the festive atmosphere will be present around the cathedral from November 29 to December 25, 2024. Passersby and tourists will not only be able to admire and purchase creations from about forty exhibitors but also enjoy numerous free activities.
The holiday spirit will settle in Square René Viviani throughout December for the delight of both young and old. Drawing contests and storytelling for children will thrill young visitors, not to mention the presence of Santa Claus himself.
