"Reading the South" is a cultural event supported by the associations Libraires du Sud, Éditeurs du Sud, Jedi sud and the Regional Book Agency, under the aegis of the South Region.
This free, supportive event open to all is organized with the support of the Sofia/Fill Territoires du Livre scheme. It takes place throughout the PACA region with the goal of promoting the local book supply chain. All the activities offered aim to highlight local literary, editorial, and graphic creation.
An opportunity to buy books through direct sales
Perhaps you are already accustomed to buying food products through direct sales... But have you ever considered sourcing cultural products like books locally?
With the event "On lirait le Sud," all the players in the PACA region's book industry invite you to discover books made in the South. Nearly a hundred participants are mobilizing, whether they are booksellers, publishers, authors, or library staff, to bring this free cultural event to life.
This event, which benefits from financial support from the South Region, is an opportunity to honor the book professions in PACA and the literary and graphic talents of our territory through free events.
For a month, literary meetings, readings, workshops, exhibitions, book signings, and other free activities are offered throughout the region to reach a broad audience of all ages.
2024 Edition
The event "On lirait le Sud" returns from May 15 to June 15, 2024, for its 4th edition organized throughout the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region.
Book lovers and literature enthusiasts are particularly invited to Marseille, Nice, Toulon, Antibes, Grasse, Aix-en-Provence, and Salon-de-Provence, as well as in the towns of Aubagne, Gap, Digne, and Gréoux-les-Bains. From the coastline to the mountains, 100% local books will be celebrated in bookstores and media libraries across the region.
For this 4th edition, about 50 free events will be offered. The public will have the opportunity to meet more than thirty authors of novels, children's books, or poetry. Among the participating writers, we can mention Marcus Malte, Dominique Sigaud, Renaud Perrin, Margaux Mazellier, Florence Koenig, Cédric Lerible, Myriam Rabah-Konaté, Ramona Badescu, Benoît Guillaume, and many others!
