Zevent: The Charity Marathon Returns On Twitch
Two years after its last edition, which broke a donation record, ZEvent will once again raise funds for various associations. Here are 5 things to know about this online charity marathon, which brings together streamers and internet users around worthy causes.
1- This charity event was launched by two streamers.
ZEvent is a charity event that was created in 2016 by Adrien Nougaret and Alexandre Dachary, also known as ZeratoR and Dach.
It is more specifically a streaming marathon organized on the video streaming platform Twitch to raise funds for different associations each year.
2- It enabled the collection of more than 10 million in donations in 2022.
ZEvent is an event that creates buzz around the supported charitable organizations and appeals to the generosity of internet users.
For three days non-stop, streamers and internet users live to the rhythm of the donations sent and the evolution of the fundraising total, following the same mechanics as the Telethon on television...
In 2022, this event raised €10,182,126 for several associations. A record amount that the organizers hope to surpass this year!
After a one-year absence, the 2024 edition returns with great ambitions and in a new form. For the first time, streamers have the opportunity to participate in this charity marathon remotely.
3- The 2024 edition will take place in Montpellier and online.
For its next edition from September 6 to 8, 2024, ZEvent invites 36 of the most popular French streamers to Montpellier and over 100 others online, from their homes, to participate in 3 days of charity marathon.
On the agenda: challenges to take on, discussions, t-shirt and other goodies sales, games, and many surprises of all kinds. As in previous editions, the goal of this event is of course to raise the fund and collect as much money as possible for the associations.
Ahead of the actual streaming marathon, a concert is scheduled at the Zénith de Montpellier on September 5, 2024. Several artists will perform on stage for the benefit of the supported associations. Indeed, the proceeds from this concert and the numerous sales organized during these three days will be donated to the associations.
4- The 2024 edition will benefit 5 associations.
During the next edition of ZEvent, from September 6 to 8, 2024, internet users will be called upon to make donations to benefit 5 different associations:
• Secours populaire, which helps people in need in France and countries affected by hunger, climate crises, or armed conflicts;
• Bureaux du cœur, which provides shelter to people in precarious situations within company premises;
• Solidarité paysans, a network of local associations working to preserve agricultural activity and employment in rural areas;
• Chapitre 2, which supports vulnerable young people and provides them with professional and social assistance;
• Cop1, an association founded by a group of students to combat student poverty across the French territory.
Note: as in the previous edition in 2022, the Fondation de France will handle the collection of donations and their distribution to the 5 beneficiary associations.
5- The list of invited streamers is causing controversy.
Among the streamers participating in this major charity marathon at the Zénith de Montpellier, we will notably find Antoine Daniel, Ponce, Domingo, AVAMind, Baghera Jones, Samuel Étienne, and Ultia. The event will be broadcast live on Twitch in its entirety, representing over 50 hours of live streaming.
It will also take place remotely for around a hundred streamers. However, since the organizers published the list of 100 online streamers, controversy has been growing on the web due to fatphobic or racist comments made by some participants...
In conclusion, let's hope that this new edition of ZEvent does even better than in 2022, as the supported associations should not have to suffer from the ongoing controversy on social media.
