Grandma's Easy Turkey Stir-fry Recipe

If you're in the mood for a good old-fashioned casserole, try this recipe for Grandma's Turkey Stir-Fry! This poultry stew, with bacon and mushrooms, is delicious with old-fashioned mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients needed to make Grandma's Style Turkey Stir-Fry for 4 people:

500 g turkey stir-fry
250 g small button mushrooms
100 g smoked bacon
1 large white onion
20 g flour
2 tablespoons tomato paste
2 tablespoons of olive oil
salt and pepper

Preparation of the filling

To garnish this grandma-style turkey stir-fry, it is most convenient to use small button mushrooms that you simply cut in half or quarters depending on their size, as in the photo below.

1- Wash the mushrooms.

2- Cut them in two or four and reserve them for the rest of the recipe.

To note: if you use large button mushrooms, cut them into strips.

3- Peel and slice the white onion.

Preparation of the meat

For this recipe, I recommend cooking the turkey stir-fry Grandma's way in a cast iron casserole dish. If you don't have a casserole, you can use a large sauté pan.

1- Heat the olive oil in the casserole over high heat.

2- Brown the turkey pieces until they are colored on all sides.

3- Add salt and pepper moderately as the bacon is already salty.

Preparation of the turkey stir-fry

1- When the pieces of meat are well colored, remove them from the pot.

2- Instead, brown the lardons, the minced onion and the mushrooms. These ingredients will make up the garnish of your grandmotherly turkey stir-fry.

3- Mix everything well until it is colored, then put the turkey pieces back into the casserole.

Preparation of the sauce

1- When all the ingredients are well browned, sprinkle them with flour and mix well.

2- Cover with water just to the top and add the tomato paste to make the sauce for the grandma's turkey stir-fry.

3- Cover the casserole and lower the heat.

Cooking the turkey stir-fry

1- Cook the turkey stir-fry grandma style for 30 minutes on low heat.

2- Serve piping hot with a side of starches.

To note: I advise you to serve this complete dish with local flavors with a good homemade mashed potatoes. But nothing prevents you from accompanying it with simple steamed potatoes or pasta.
