Homemade Baked Wedges: A Very Easy Recipe.

If you like the "potatoes" from a famous fast food chain, know that it is very simple to prepare this type of potato or potato wedges yourself. We offer you to discover in pictures an easy recipe for homemade oven wedges.

Ingredients

Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare homemade oven-baked wedges for 4 people:

1 kilogram of potatoes
half a teaspoon of fine salt
1 teaspoon of paprika
1 teaspoon of oregano
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
3 tablespoons of olive oil

Note: The particularity of these potato wedges is that they are cooked with the skin on, so I recommend using organic potatoes or untreated potatoes from your garden. Select potatoes of the same size as much as possible, so that the oven-baked wedges cook more evenly.

Washing potatoes

The recipe for homemade oven wedges is rather quick to prepare since it is unnecessary to peel the potatoes. If, like me, you use new potatoes that you have just harvested from your garden, you must of course wash them carefully before cutting them into wedges, that is to say, into quarters.

1- Soak the potatoes in a basin of clear water to remove most of the dirt.

2- Then brush them under a stream of running water with a hard-bristled brush like your dish brush.

Cutting homemade wedges

Once your potatoes are nice and clean, you can move on to the cutting stage. Again, the recipe for homemade oven-baked wedges is easier and quicker than that of traditional fries. If you're using small potatoes, simply cut them in half and then in half again. However, if you're using larger potatoes, cut them in half and then slice each half into 3 or 4 pieces to get the ideal size for your potatoes.

Seasoning for homemade potato wedges.

The secret to successful homemade wedges lies both in their oven cooking and seasoning.

1- In a small bowl, mix salt with paprika, dried oregano, and garlic powder.

Note: You can adapt the seasoning with condiments you like or have at home, such as pepper or Espelette pepper. You can also replace oregano with dried parsley, Herbes de Provence, or marjoram...

2- Add olive oil and mix well until you get a kind of spice paste.

3- Place the potato wedges in a bowl, add the spices, and mix by hand until the potatoes are well coated.

Preparing the cooking plate.

1- Prepare a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

2- Spread the potato wedges in a single layer.

Note: to ensure that your homemade oven-baked wedges cook evenly, it is essential not to stack or overcrowd them on the baking sheet. If necessary, it is better to divide the potato wedges onto two baking sheets lined with parchment paper.

Baking wedges in the oven.

1- Preheat your oven to 200°C.

2- Cook the wedges potatoes for about 30 to 35 minutes.

Note: the cooking time of homemade oven wedges may vary depending on your oven. Your potatoes are ready when their skin becomes crispy, slightly wrinkled and golden.

Tasting tips

Serve the homemade oven-baked wedges as soon as they come out of the oven.

These American-style potatoes will perfectly accompany a homemade burger or meat in sauce.
