Macadamia Chocolate Cookies: A Delicious Recipe

On the occasion of the start of the school year, I offer you a foolproof recipe to delight all food lovers. Chocolate macadamia cookies are the perfect snack to regain energy after school. Here are the steps to prepare these delicious cookies in pictures.

Ingredients

Here are the ingredients needed to prepare about ten chocolate macadamia cookies:

80 g of soft butter.
130 g of flour.
50 g of brown sugar.
2 g of baking powder.
A pinch of salt.
1 small egg.
100 g of chocolate.
40 g of macadamia nuts.

Preparing the filling

For this chocolate macadamia cookie recipe, it is important to take the butter out of the refrigerator at least one hour in advance.

Use this time to prepare your cookie toppings. Depending on your preferences, you can use either dark chocolate or milk chocolate. You can also replace macadamia nuts with hazelnuts.

1- Coarsely chop the macadamia nuts with a knife and set them aside in a bowl.

2- Chop the chocolate into chips and set them aside for the rest of the recipe.

Note: When chopping the chocolate with a knife, you will get irregular-sized chips. Don't worry if some chocolate pieces are finer than others; you can still incorporate everything into your cookie dough.

Cookie dough preparation

The macadamia chocolate cookie dough is very simple to prepare.

1- In a large bowl, mix the flour with the brown sugar, a pinch of salt, and the baking powder.

2- Add the softened butter and start kneading with your fingertips.

3- When the butter is well incorporated into the dry ingredients and the mixture turns yellow, add the slightly beaten whole egg to bind the dough.

4- Knead with your fingertips until you obtain a homogeneous and sticky dough.

Note: It is normal for the cookie dough to stick to your fingers. Do not add flour! You risk spoiling the cookies by making them less soft!

Adding chocolate chips

To finalize the macadamia chocolate cookie dough, simply incorporate the homemade chocolate chips.

Adding the chocolate pieces will give body to the dough and make assembling the cookies easier.

Assembly of cookies

As the cookie dough is sticky, another tip for forming the cookies is to use an ice cream scoop to take balls of dough and place them on the baking sheet.

1- Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

2- Using an ice cream scoop, form balls of cookie dough and place them on the baking sheet, making sure to space them well apart.

3- Slightly flatten each ball of dough to give it the shape of a small disc.

4- Sprinkle each cookie with a pinch of chopped macadamia nuts.

Note: with the proportions indicated above, I made 9 chocolate macadamia cookies about 8 cm in diameter. If you take smaller balls of dough, you can get about a dozen cookies.

Baking cookies

1- Preheat your oven to 180°C.

2- Place the tray in the oven and bake the macadamia chocolate cookies for about 10 minutes.

Note: Remember to adjust the baking time based on the thickness of your cookies. If you make thinner cookies than mine, reduce the baking time to 7 or 5 minutes.

3- The cookies are done when they take on a light golden color.

4- Let them cool completely before enjoying them, so they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
