Turkey Stew With Chestnuts: A Festive Recipe
When preparing a festive meal, we are not always enough people to make the traditional Christmas turkey. Nevertheless, it is possible to honor traditions and delight in cooking a turkey stew with chestnuts. We invite you to discover this festive recipe that is as easy as it is delicious.
Ingredients
Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare chestnut turkey stew for 4 people:
4 turkey escalopes.
1 jar of cooked chestnuts.
2 shallots.
15 g of butter.
1 tablespoon of sunflower oil.
1/2 cube of chicken broth.
15 cl of water.
1 tablespoon of fresh or vegetable cream.
2 tablespoons of chopped parsley.
Salt and pepper.
Chopping the ingredients
The chopping of ingredients is the first step in preparing this turkey stew with chestnuts.
1- Cut the turkey escalopes into cubes of about 2 cm on each side.
2- Sort the chestnuts, opening them if necessary to remove any woody parts.
3- Finely chop the shallots and set aside.
Broth preparation
For this braised turkey with chestnuts recipe, you can of course use homemade chicken broth, after cooking a pot-roasted chicken for instance.
If you don't have homemade broth, dissolve half a cube of poultry stock in 150 ml of hot water. Mix well with a whisk and set aside.
Meat Cooking
You can prepare the turkey and chestnut stew in a sauté pan or in a large frying pan.
1- Heat the pan before pouring in the sunflower oil and butter.
2- When the butter foams, add the turkey cubes and brown them on all sides.
3- Add the minced shallots. Season with salt and pepper and sauté everything for a few minutes.

1- When the shallots are tender and the meat is nicely browned, pour the chicken broth into the pan to deglaze.
2- Lower the heat and let everything simmer gently for about ten minutes, until the chicken broth evaporates and the sauce reduces.
3- A few minutes before serving, add the fresh cream or a plant-based alternative like cooking oat cream and mix well.
4- Also add the chestnut pieces to the pan and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
Tasting Tips
Serve the turkey and chestnut stew in deep plates, accompanied by white rice.
