Water-filled fruits, Charentais melon and watermelon are the stars of summer! With these two refreshing ingredients, it is possible to create thirst-quenching appetizers and desserts. I invite you to discover the recipe for melon and watermelon salad with mint in pictures, a highly aromatic summer fruit salad.
Ingredients
Here are the necessary ingredients to prepare a watermelon and mint salad for 4 people:
- One Charentais melon
- A 500g slice of watermelon
- One yellow lemon
- 2 sprigs of mint
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 2 tablespoons of orange blossom water
Note: To flavor desserts such as this summer fruit salad, you should use high-quality edible organic orange blossom water.
Preparation of honey lemon sauce
To prepare a very fragrant watermelon and mint salad, I recommend marinating the fruits in a mixture of lemon juice, organic orange blossom water, honey, and fresh mint leaves.
1- Squeeze the yellow lemon and pour the juice into a large glass container with a lid.
2- Add the orange blossom water and honey.
3- Mix well until the honey is completely dissolved in the liquid.
4- Rinse the mint sprigs and add them directly to the container to infuse in the honey lemon sauce.
Fruit preparation
The preparation of the watermelon and mint salad is very simple as it only requires assembling the different ingredients and letting them marinate in the fridge for at least two hours. The longest step is cutting the cantaloupe and watermelon.
1- Wash the cantaloupe before cutting it in half.
2- Remove the seeds with a tablespoon.
3- If you have a melon baller, make melon balls and place them in the container with the honey lemon sauce.
Note: If you don't have a melon baller, simply cut the cantaloupe into slices and then dice it into small cubes. In either case, make sure to collect the juice from the fruits and add it to the container.
4- Proceed in the same manner with the watermelon: remove as many seeds as possible, then cut the flesh of the fruit into balls or small cubes.
Cooling rest time
1- Once you have gathered all the ingredients in the glass container, close the lid and place your fruit salad in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
2- This resting time in the refrigerator is essential for the fruits to absorb the flavor of the mint and the honey lemon and orange blossom sauce.
3- Just before serving the watermelon and mint salad, remove the mint sprigs from the container.
Set design
1- Serve this refreshing summer fruit salad in bowls or verrines.
2- When serving, drizzle the fruit balls or cubes with honey lemon orange blossom sauce.
3- For an even prettier presentation, decorate each bowl with three fresh mint leaves.
