A Thousand And One Orchids: An Exhibition At The Jardin Des Plantes
Notice to orchid lovers! Every year, in February, a thousand and one orchids are exhibited in the large greenhouses of the Jardin des Plantes. This event is the occasion to see gathered flowers of a rare beauty.
A meeting for enthusiasts
Since the launch of this event in 2014, the Plant Garden has renewed the A Thousand and One Orchids exhibit in its large greenhouses each year.
This event, which has become a must for orchidophiles and all flower enthusiasts in general, allows you to discover rare and fascinating species in the midst of lush tropical vegetation.
Each year, a new decor is created by the exhibitors and the teams of the Jardin des Plantes, for the great joy of visitors. It takes 75 hours of installation time for the gardeners in the greenhouses to prepare this exhibition and the flowers are installed in the last days before the opening of the exhibition.
Extraordinary flowers
There are nearly 30,000 species of orchids in the world. This sumptuous flower grows on every continent, including Europe and France, where there are 160 species.
The Thousand and One Orchids exhibition is an opportunity to discover some of these natural wonders without leaving Paris. In Asia, this flower is a symbol of purity, refinement, fertility and eroticism.
In France too, collectors are becoming more and more numerous, so if you are an orchid lover, note that it is possible to buy these rarities during the exhibition, thanks to an ephemeral store.
Program of the 2023 edition
In 2023, the Thousand and One Orchids exhibition celebrates its 10th anniversary. On this occasion, this event that has become a must for orchidophiles is enriched with new animations.
Come and marvel at a denser flowering and a renewed plant scenography with spectacular structures! You will be able to discover two favorite paths and even attend an original show on the sexuality of orchids!
The first tour of the exhibition was imagined by Stéphane Marie, host of the program Silence, ça pousse on France 5, while the second tour was designed by the gardeners and botanists of the Museum.
Whether you are connoisseurs or simply curious, you can take advantage of the advice of associations and nurserymen.
