Family Duels: The Game That Replaces Numbers And Letters
It's not easy to follow in the footsteps of such a legendary game show as Des chiffres et des lettres on France 3! However, this is the challenge that Cyril Féraud will try to take up by proposing and hosting a new concept called Duels en familles.
A game designed and hosted by Cyril Féraud
Des chiffres et des lettres has been an institution on France 3 for decades. The program, which has been broadcast since January 1972, is to this day the oldest game show on French television.
However, this unmissable appointment will give way during the week to a new colorful concept designed and hosted by Cyril Féraud.
Starting Monday, August 29, 2022, France 3 will offer the game Duels en familles from Monday to Friday at 4:15 pm. As for the game Des chiffres et des lettres, it will now be broadcast on weekends.
This new concept is a creation of Cyril Féraud who is also the host and co-producer. Faced with the controversy caused by the deprogramming of Des chiffres et des lettres, the host defends himself from having wanted to take the place of this program. He explains: 'When I developed this game, I did it for France 3, without thinking about a specific time slot'.
A match between regions
Cyril Féraud, who also remains at the helm of Slam on France 3, has come up with a game that allows the different regions of France to challenge each other.
This new concept will see two families compete throughout the week in a warm setting with a giant apartment feel.
In keeping with the DNA of the France 3 channel, 'the channel of the regions', each family will represent a French region. In the first week of the show, a family from the Loiret (45) will face a family from the Charente (16).
Between the game phases, the candidates will show the viewers the most beautiful sites of their region, the local specialties and the traditions of their department.
Cyril Féraud explains: 'I wanted us to find all week the same two families, to be able to get to know each day with a new member, so that they tell us about their corner of France, their favorite in their department.'
A general knowledge game
Each team consists of four candidates from the same family, ranging in age from 18 to over 80.
As the title of the game suggests, they will compete in duels in words, pictures or music... There will also be duels about regions, general knowledge duels and surprise duels.
The concept of Family Duels has nothing to do with A Family of Gold, which is based on surveys...
Each show will include 3 duels of increasing difficulty and a final. For the two families in the running, the objective is to qualify for the daily final which allows to win 2000 €. Each Friday, the sum of 5000 € is at stake.
Will this new game manage to replace its legendary predecessor? Given this friendly concept, it shouldn't take long for viewers to adopt this new intergenerational and unifying game.
