Good People: A Sharp Humor Series On Arte.
Starting on Thursday, April 13th, Arte is broadcasting a Belgian series in six episodes titled "Des gens bien" (Good People). Behind this ironic title lies a series full of the black humor that our Belgian neighbors know so well how to handle. The heroes are a debt-ridden couple who try to cheat insurance companies to repay their debts. This leads to hilarious misadventures, making it a must-see TV gem!
A not-so-perfect police officer.
In the first episode of the series "Good People", Tom Leroy, a Belgian police officer, loses his wife in a car accident. The unfortunate woman was burned alive in their car in the middle of the Ardennes forest.
When Philippe, a French gendarme, learns of the accident, he immediately doubts Tom's innocence. In fact, Tom orchestrated this accident with the complicity of his wife Linda to collect insurance money. Unfortunately, their plan did not go as planned...
Philippe, the French gendarme, is convinced that this Belgian police officer is not above suspicion. But no one takes him seriously.
Adventures gone wrong.
In the series "Des gens bien", the title shouldn't be taken literally nor should one expect to see "good people" on screen! This six-episode series is a tragicomedy centered around insurance fraud. It features a couple of "good people" (he's a Christian police officer and she's a beautician specialized in artificial tanning) burdened with debts and ready to deceive insurance companies in order to repay their creditors.
To carry out their insurance scam, they show no morals or scruples. But nothing goes as planned, resulting in a plot that is both deceitful and enjoyable. The events spiral out of their control, illustrating the famous Murphy's Law, better known as the law of maximum annoyance...
Radical black humor.
The series "Des gens bien" is the new gem from the writers of the series "La Trêve". It was created by the trio composed of Stéphane Bergmans, Benjamin d'Aoust and Matthieu Donck.
This mix of suspenseful crime and corrosive humor is reminiscent of the universe of the Coen brothers. The series, driven by a strong energy and radical humor, offers a carefully crafted plot where the absurdity of situations is constantly renewed.
The misadventures of this indebted couple turn into a bloodbath, much to the delight of viewers who love absurd and wacky humor made in Belgium.
An international cast of prestige.
This six-episode series boasts a high-quality cast, with Lucas Meister (seen in La Trêve) and Bérengère McNeese (who has appeared in HPI and Braqueurs) in the lead roles.
The cast is a mix of French and Belgian actors. The series Des gens bien also benefits from the participation of tasty guests who spice up this Belgian fiction with their mere presence.
Viewers will have the pleasure of seeing François Damiens, Michael Abiteboul, Dominique Pinon and Corinne Masiero (our most famous tricolor gendarme since she played Captain Marleau on France Télévisions!).
