Secret Story: 5 Things To Know About The Return Of This Cult Show
The cult game Secret Story is set to make its big comeback on TF1 starting Tuesday, April 23, 2024. For all fans of the House of Secrets and The Voice, here are 5 things to know about the 2024 version of the game.
This program returns 7 years after its last broadcast.
Secret Story was the pride of the TF1 channel from 2007 to 2017. This iconic show is set to return to the airwaves starting Tuesday, April 23 at 11:30 PM, right after the airing of Koh-Lanta: the immunity hunters.
The show will once again be produced by Endemol, the company responsible for the revival of Star Academy in 2022. This production company has clearly understood that nostalgia sells.
Just last year, the president of Endemol France revealed in an interview his desire to bring back Secret Story, in the same way as Star Academy and the soap opera Plus belle la vie, now broadcast on TF1.
Christophe Beaugrand is back in action.
Over the years, Secret Story was initially hosted by Benjamin Castaldi, followed by Christophe Beaugrand starting in 2015. In the 2024 version of the game, Christophe Beaugrand returns as the host. On the launch night of the 12th season, he will be the one presenting the contestants to the viewers.
This year, about fifteen contestants will enter the famous House of Secrets to the delight of nostalgic viewers. These individuals, each holding a secret, were selected from no less than 22,000 applications received by the production company Endemol.
The game's principle remains unchanged as each contestant has a secret they must keep for as long as possible... while trying to guess the secrets of others!
To allow viewers to follow the progress of the game, daily shows, also hosted by Christophe Beaugrand, will be aired on TF1 from Monday to Saturday at 5:30 PM, taking over the time slot previously occupied by the show Familles nombreuses, la vie en XXL. Each daily episode will then be rebroadcast on TFX at 7:05 PM.
The House of Secrets has moved.
The famous House of Secrets is set to reopen its doors very soon. In previous seasons, the shared living space for the contestants was located on the roof of the AB Productions studios in Saint-Denis.
The house played an essential role in the game, and not just because it served as a permanent setting for this confinement reality show. Clues were hidden there, as well as secret rooms and a confessional.
In 2024, the House of Secrets will not be quite the same, as it is changing locations. This new playground, spanning 1000 m² with a swimming pool and garden, is now situated in Poissy in the Yvelines. The set of the show is attached to this new House of Secrets. Another novelty: the house now features a game area inspired by the Netflix series Squid Game!
The Voice also makes its comeback.
The house has evolved, but fans of Secret Story can rest assured! Another key element of the show has not changed, I am of course talking about The Voice!
This voice, recognizable among all, belongs to the actor Dominique Duforest. A major character in the game, The Voice is also the only link for the contestants with the outside world during the week.
For this 12th season, it will resume its role and its legendary line: “That is all... for now.”
The 2024 version places a strong emphasis on strategy.
As a reminder, Secret Story is much more than just a confinement reality show. This program is also an elimination game, with weekly eviction votes. The Friday daily show is the most important of the week as it reveals the elimination of a contestant.
Following the Friday daily show, Christophe Beaugrand will exclusively host a special live show on the TF1+ platform at 6:30 pm with the eliminated contestant and guests.
For the big return of the show to the airwaves, the production and The Voice aim to enhance the game aspect of the show. The focus will be on fun, but without the trash and clashes of previous seasons.
To make the program more playful, family-friendly, and feel-good, the casting promises to highlight strategists. The production has also added a game zone in the House of Secrets which will allow The Voice to subject the contestants to unique challenges.
At the end of the season, the finalists will win the entirety of their personal jackpot accumulated over the course of the game. But who will be clever enough to keep their secret until the end and win the €100,000 prize? Viewers will decide with their votes!
