Every year, in winter, the Jardin des Plantes in Paris offers its visitors a nocturnal light walk. This festival of lights is an opportunity to rediscover this place in a magical atmosphere. In 2021, the theme of this event is Evolution in the process of being illuminated.
A magical and educational walk
For three consecutive years now, the Jardin des Plantes in Paris has held its Festival of Lights from the end of November to the end of January.
Gigantic statues of colorful animals take over the place and light up at nightfall.
Each year, several dozens of monumental luminous structures invite visitors to a fairy-tale walk in different natural environments such as the ocean, the jungle or the extinct world of dinosaurs.
The theme of this magical stroll changes every year, but of course keeps a link with the themes addressed at the National Museum of Natural History.
Spotlight on the Evolution of Life
In 2021, the Jardin des Plantes Festival of Lights returns for its 3rd edition from 29 November 2021 to 30 January 2022.
After having highlighted the Ocean on the way to illumination and Species on the way to illumination during the previous editions, this event proposes to reveal to us the secrets of evolution.
This journey on the theme Evolution on the way to enlightenment invites you to travel 600 million years in one evening!
This magical and immersive stroll dedicated to the evolution of life promises to take you back in time to discover species that are now extinct.
Unlike previous editions, this edition literally highlights extinct and little-known species, most of which have never cohabited with humans.
To guide you through this now extinct world, explanatory texts present the different animal species represented. Come and marvel at the hundred or so monumental structures, some of which are almost 30 metres long!
This magical dive into the world of dinosaurs should make the eyes of young and old alike sparkle.
The visit also extends throughout the menagerie of the Jardin des Plantes where pretty hand-painted Chinese lanterns illuminate your journey.
