This underground via ferrata, secure and accessible to the majority, invites you to experience a rather original adventure 45 meters underground.
A world first
The world's first underground via ferrata is located at the Moulière Park, in the town of Caille in the Alpes-Maritimes.
This route, named Via Souterrata, invites you to experience 2 hours of caving adventure, 45 meters underground!
If you're not claustrophobic, you'll love discovering the underground world dotted with numerous stalactites and stalagmites...
The 350-meter-long course is arranged and secured to be accessible to a wide audience: a great opportunity to get a taste of the joys of spelunking!
An accessible course
The Via Souterrata is a route with no significant technical difficulty. It is also accessible to children from the age of 8 or a height of 1.35 meters.
Throughout this underground via ferrata, you can:
- slip into the bowels of the earth through narrow conduits
- observe, in a spacious corridor, a ceiling bristling with stalactites that sometimes descend to merge with the stalagmites rising from the ground
- cross monkey bridges and slide down a slide to emerge into a large chamber
- traverse this chamber on a walkway to better admire the numerous formations found there
- climb a shaft using metal rungs to return to the surface, 15 meters above.
If you're up for the adventure, head to the Moulière Park in the town of Caille.
Just bring a sweater and good walking shoes, as well as a pair of gloves. The rest of the equipment (suit, helmet with headlamp, harness with specific lanyard) is provided.
It is possible to take photos and videos on site, so don't forget your camera!
