The Salon De L'agriculture: The Largest Farm In France In Paris
The Salon de l'agriculture, which is the largest agricultural fair in France, is a public event. It is held at the same time as the SIMA trade show. This friendly and festive event honors the diversity and richness of French agriculture.
What is the Salon de l'Agriculture?
The Paris International Agricultural Show (SIA), more commonly referred to as the Agricultural Show, is the largest agricultural trade show in France.
It is held each year at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center during the First Week of March.
It is also a media event very much oriented towards the general public.
Agricultural Show and Agricultural Machinery Show
Every two years, the SIMA (International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition) is held at the same time at the Paris-Nord Exhibition Centre in Villepinte (Seine-Saint-Denis).
Unlike the Salon de l'agriculture, this exhibition is reserved for professionals and specializes in the fields of agricultural and forestry machinery and livestock equipment.
Its origins
The first Paris International Agricultural Show was held in March 1964. It was the successor to the Concours Général Agricole, which has existed since 1870 and is still the main attraction of the Salon de l'Agriculture.
An event for the general public
The Salon de l'agriculture is an opportunity to discover and honor the diversity and authenticity of French agriculture, all in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
The Show is indeed punctuated by many daily animations and allows to promote the local products.
At the beginning of March, the Show is also the 'largest farm in France' with its various species of animals (14 veterinarians ensure the good health of the 3,000 animals present).
