The Dior Gallery: A New Temple Of Fashion To Visit
Good news for all the fashionistas visiting Paris: the house of Dior inaugurated a brand new permanent exhibition space on March 9, 2022. The Dior Gallery retraces the history of this fashion house in a 2000 m2 space with an extraordinary scenography.
An extraordinary museum
It is in the heart of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, at 11 rue François Ier that the House of Dior has installed its new permanent exhibition space.
The Galerie Dior is a real living museum dedicated to the history of this fashion house and the evolution of Parisian fashion in general.
In the very place where Christian Dior had set up his first workshops, the visitor goes from surprise to surprise, in a setting as enchanting as the haute couture models presented.
A contemporary staging
If you find that museums dedicated to fashion sometimes lack life and modernity, you will love the brand new Galerie Dior.
Once past the rather discreet entrance, you enter a 2,000 square meter space whose scenography revolutionizes the codes of museums of this type.
This exhibition space was designed under the direction of Olivier Flaviano, the former director of the Yves saint laurent Paris museum, with magnificent scenography imagined by Nathalie Crinière.
Wandering from one room to another, you will pass from Christian Dior's office (preserved in its original state) to a sound and light show around a podium of breathtaking dresses.
The very contemporary scenography brings to life iconic models from all the couturiers who worked for the house of Dior, such as John Galliano, Yves saint laurent or Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Other models that were worn by Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe or Nicole Kidman testify to the close ties between the house of Dior and the stars.
The tour not only allows you to go behind the scenes of a fashion show in Christian Dior's time, to discover the history of the couturier and his close friends and family, but also to attend the work of Dior's little hands live!
The highlight of the show is undoubtedly the workshop where the little hands of the house make dresses live.
Seeing them work on their machines and at their work tables is a rare privilege that brings the visitor into the magical world of haute couture.
