The Queernaval: Nice's Free Gay Carnival
Nice, the world-famous Azurean capital known for its carnival, reaffirms its status as a gay-friendly destination by hosting France's only gay carnival! This year again, Lou Queernaval will create a buzz at Place Masséna. Bring out your feathers, glitter, and makeup: the wildest costumes are allowed for this grand festive and free parade!
Gay-friendly atmosphere in Nice
During its first edition on February 27, 2015, Lou Queernaval, the first and only gay carnival in France, attracted 15,000 people to the famous Place Masséna.
Our city, world-renowned for its carnival, was best positioned to organize this event, confirming its "gay-friendly" welcoming policy.
Indeed, Nice is the second city in France after Paris to have celebrated the most same-sex marriages and is the 5th most gay-friendly city in France (according to the "Têtu 2014" ranking).
The capital of the French Riviera has more than 110 friendly establishments (hotels, cafes, restaurants, beaches, shops...) listed by the Nice Convention and Visitors Bureau and the EGL and AGLAE associations. It even has its own "Little Marais Niçois" in the area around Rue Bonaparte and Place du Pin.
An extravagant parade
This edition of Lou Queernaval, part of the official program of the Carnaval de Nice 2024, invites you to join us at Place Masséna on Friday, February 23, 2024, starting at 8 PM!
The King and Queen, symbols of the carnival, will lead the parade featuring several amazing floats, as well as troops of dancers, queer creatures, and flamboyant artists!
This wild parade organized by the LGBTQI community of Nice is intended to be a grand popular festival open to everyone. Come in large numbers for two hours of parade and show!
The atmosphere is expected to be electric as the extravagant and unpredictable transformist DJ, Lady Power, will be in charge of the parade's playlist!
Note: Throughout the weekend, a schedule of parties and events will be offered throughout the city and in Nice's LGBTQI establishments to extend the magic and fever of the carnival.
