Valentine's Day In Nice: 5 Places To Visit With Your Partner
With its mild weather in winter, its Bay of Angels and its range of hotels and restaurants, the city of Nice is a dream destination for a romantic getaway for Valentine's Day. We have listed for you 5 particularly magical places to visit as a couple.
1- The Castle Hill
The first romantic spot for couples who chose to spend Valentine's Day in Nice is the Castle Hill. Despite its name, there is no longer a castle to admire on top of this hill. But this place is still a must-see for enjoying an extraordinary view of the Bay of Angels.
Whether you choose to go up by elevator or to climb the Colline du Château on foot by the stairs, the wow effect is guaranteed upon arrival! From the top of this hill, you will be able to admire a magnificent panorama of the Promenade des Anglais and the rooftops of the old city spreading out at your feet.
After having immortalized this magnificent picture, don't miss to walk in the gardens and to see the waterfall!
2- The alleys of Old Nice
With its narrow streets, colorful facades and small stores galore, Vieux-Nice is another must-see site for a romantic stroll. Don't be afraid to get lost in these alleys, you'll quickly find your way back thanks to a few landmarks, like the seaside on one side and the tramway line 1 on the other.
Among the romantic spots not to be missed in this neighborhood, we must of course mention the flower market of Cours Saleya, where you can buy a bouquet for your Valentine, but also the Rossetti square.
This square is known for housing the imposing Sainte-Réparate cathedral and many ice cream shops. Take the opportunity to stop by Fenocchio, one of the most famous ice cream shops in the city! It offers an impressive number of ice cream and sorbet flavors, close to a hundred!
And if you prefer to nibble on something hot and/or salty, the old town is the ideal place to buy a slice of socca and taste this typical Nice specialty, to be eaten with your fingers.
3- The Promenade des Anglais
If Nice is an ideal destination for Valentine's Day, it is primarily because the sun usually shines there on February 14!
To enjoy the mild weather of the French Riviera and admire all the shades of blue of the sky and the sea, what could be more romantic than a stroll hand in hand on the Promenade des Anglais?
Just like the British winterers who gave it its name, you can soak up the sun and the sea spray while walking peacefully along the seafront.
Admire the pink dome of the Negresco Hotel and, if you don't have the courage to walk all the way to the Nice Côte d'Azur airport which marks the end of the Promenade, simply take a break on one of the mythical blue chairs before turning back!
4- The I Love Nice hashtag
If you want to keep a souvenir of your romantic getaway during Valentine's Day in Nice, I suggest you go take a selfie in front of the hashtag I Love Nice installed on the Rauba-Capeu quay.
This quay located at the foot of the Colline du Château is so called because the wind sometimes blows so hard there that it can blow your hat away...
This place has especially become an unmissable tourist spot since the blue white and red structure was installed there. On Valentine's Day, it is the perfect spot to take a selfie in front of the word LOVE but also to admire the sunset over the sea.
5- The gardens of the Cimiez monastery
Finally, if you're looking for a more secret place for your romantic getaway, go walk through the gardens of the Cimiez Monastery.
The Cimiez hill, located away from the city center, is a beautiful residential area where you can admire the Regina Palace, the Cimiez arena and the gardens of the Cimiez monastery. To get there from the city center, I advise you to take the bus number 5 behind the arcades of the place Masséna.
From the gardens of the monastery, you will have a magnificent view of the city of Nice. Also, take the time to stroll through the garden's alleys, a place that is always in bloom thanks to carefully maintained rose bushes and flowerbeds.
Less crowded than the other sites listed above, these gardens will offer you a haven of peace and greenery away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. As the gates close at 7pm in winter, you can stay until closing time to watch the sunset over the city and the Mediterranean.
