Les Orres : A Family And Nature Resort
The resort of Les Orres, in the Hautes-Alpes department, is located near the Ecrins National Park. This destination has the Famille Plus label and offers activities for young and old in a preserved environment.
A resort for the whole family
Les Orres is one of the most popular resorts in the Hautes-Alpes. It offers 100 km of slopes lined with larches and located between 1550 m and 2720 m of altitude, that is to say 1170 m of vertical drop.
This resort, which has 19 lifts, 37 runs (7 green, 6 blue, 20 red and 4 black) and a snowpark, delights winter sports enthusiasts. The sun and the snow are there thanks in particular to automatic snowmaking on more than half of the area.
The Family Plus labeled resort also offers ski and non-ski activities adapted to all family members: ice skating, rail sledding, snakegliss or yooner but also snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ski-joerring and paragliding!
A very practical application
Since 2011, the Orres resort has developed a mobile application offering users multiple useful services and information:
- road conditions from the borders of the department
- road information messages for a stress-free journey
- chaining areas
- geolocation of parking lots
- geolocation of internal shuttles
- webcams
- interactive slope map
- waiting time for chairlifts
- services, shops and events not to be missed
Note: this year's winter season runs from Saturday, December 7, 2013 through Sunday, April 27, 2014 (subject to snow conditions).
A resort that cares about the environment
Thanks to a preserved environment and ecological facilities, the Orres is a reference in terms of nature resorts. The resort strives to reduce the impact of its tourist activities on the environment by using, for example, the most water and electricity efficient snow guns.
The resort located above the Serre-Ponçon lake is powered 100% by hydraulic electrical energy, a renewable energy source.
Since 2008, it has also been committed, in partnership with EDF, to a policy of integrated energy management for the technical installations of the ski area (ski lifts and production of artificial snow).
